Here are tips to help you maintain healthy skin:
Wear sunscreen. Sunscreen is not just for the spring and summer months. UV rays are just as damaging on cloudy, cold days. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. A heavy sunscreen may not be necessary during the winter months, so apply a moisturizer with SPF.
Eat healthy. Incorporate lots of fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins in your diet. Don’t forget Omega-3 rich foods, whole grains and B Vitamins- all are key to maintaining a youthful glow.
Exfoliate. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells uncovering fresh new ones. This helps your skin to absorb more moisture.
Moisturize. Apply moisturizer to your whole body every morning and night. Appling moisturizer immediately after a shower seals the water into your skin.
Examine your skin. Monthly head-to-toe examinations can help you notice any new or changing cancerous or precancerous spots, freckles, moles and other lesions. If you notice changes to existing skin growths or find a new one, follow up with your physician or dermatologist. In addition to monthly self-examinations, schedule an annual full-body skin exam with your physician or dermatologist.
